Era7 has developed the database ExtraTrain that covers all extragenic regions of available genomes and regulatory proteins from bacteria and archaea included in the UniProt database. ExtraTrain has been financed by Era7.
 
 
ExtraTrain is freely available to the scientific community at:  
 

Regulatory proteins: ExtraTrain includes a set of 26.046 proteins that was extracted from SwissProt+TrEMBL UniProt release 10-5-2005. Regulatory proteins included in ExtraTrain are classified in 16 families: AraC / XylS , ArsR , AsnC , Cold shock domain (CSD) , CRP-FNR , DeoR , GntR , IclR , LacI , LuxR , LysR , MarR , MerR , NtrC / FIS , OmpR and TetR. We have followed InterPro criteria to select the proteins belonging to each family (Mulder NJ et al, 2005).

Extragenic regions: ExtraTrain includes 679.816 extragenic sequences extracted from 230 genomes from bacteria and archaea form the National Center for Biotechnology Información (NCBI) genome database. Each protein can be linked to one or more extragenic sequences since the same protein can be codified by different genes from different genomes and hence, have a different precedent extragenic region in each genetic context. ExtraTrain includes 1.917 references specifically linked to a protein entry, a regulator family or a extragenic sequence.
